PIANC’s 125^th Anniversary

In 2010, PIANC celebrated 125 years of existence. The Association organised special activities on three continents to commemorate this event. One of the proposed activities was to write a book on the history of the Association. To this end, a special Task Group (‘HisCom’) was assigned to carry out this job. The principal aim of this book is to give a broad outline of the development of PIANC as an international, non-governmental Association involved with navigation, ports and waterways, seen in the context of contemporary technical developments. The objective of the book is also to record and to disseminate the knowledge about PIANC’s long and rich history and, at the same time, to promote PIANC as one of the world’s leading technical Associations. The book was published in full-colour, richly illustrated and in separate editions in the English and French language. The book was distributed at the PIANC-MMX Congress in Liverpool in May 2010 and sent to all PIANC members for free. Jolke Brolsma Chairperson of ‘HisCom’
