At the P.I.C. Meeting in Monaco in October 1968 it was decided to set up an International Study Commission for the Classification of Soils to be Dredged””. The terms of reference included a requirement to recommend procedures for identific~tion, general classification, sampling and testing of soils and rocks. The Report was prepared by a Study Commission which included representatives from sixteen countries working in close co-operation with the “”International Society for Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering”” (I.S.S.M.F.E.), and the “”International Association of Dredging Companies”” (I.A.D.C.). The Report was printed in the P.I.A.N.C. Bulletin No.11, Vol 1, 1972.”
