Subjects considered

Many yacht harbours and marinas have been built during recent years and much thought given to the desirability or otherwise of developing such facilities at particular places, as well as the scope and type of such developments which would be appropriate environmentally. The broader aspects having been settled, there remain many more detailed questions to be considered such as their equipment and management. There is also the point of view of the yachtsman and how he should conduct himself, so that all users of the harbour should obtain the maximum relaxation and pleasure from its use.

Code of Practice

This report is not an attempt to produce a series of model regulations but rather a code of practice and an aide memoire of aspects that should be borne in mind in developing and managing yacht harbours and marinas.

Design

This report does not concern itself with design : the International Commission for Sport and Pleasure Navigation has already published a series of papers on different aspects of design. The latest of these is Final Report of the International Commission for Sport and Pleasure Navigation”” Annex to Bulletin No. 25 (Vol.III/1976).”
