NordPIANC 2024

The Norwegian section of PIANC welcomes you to the bi-annual NordPIANC event in Svolvær in the beginning of September 2024. The venue for the conference is Thon Hotel Lofoten, where the seminar session will take place on the 10th floor of the hotel. You can get a glimpse of the view from the roof of the hotel using this webcamera.

In addition to the seminar the conference also includes a reception and a technical tour. Depending on the number of participants, the reception will be held at the Kabelvåg office of The Norwegian Coastal Administration (NCA), just 5 km from Svolvær. In 2024, this office of the Norwegian Coastal Administration marks its 150th anniversary.
The conference dinner will take place adjacent to a local beer brewery, where we will be introduced to “Lofotpils” and enjoy a dinner based on locally produced ingredients from Lofoten. 

We are quite ambitious, and we hope we will be able to take you on a boat trip through “Raftsundet” including a short stop in “Trollfjorden”. The NCA has just finished a fairway project in this area which includes deepening, dredging and upgrading navigational aids. YouTube

After postponing the event the year before in 2021 because of covid restrictions, NordPIANC 2022 was hosted by the Icelandic Road & Coastal Administration. 

 NordPIANC meetings are biannual events organized in turn by the Nordic section of PIANC with the aim to exchange experience from new and ongoing projects and research in the participant countries.

A total of 80 participants were registered to the event from nine countries.
